Maiden Concert

Last Friday was my virgin experience in attending a concert. I took a quarter of a century to finally attend a concert. I wasn’t fortunate enough in the past to have extra pocket money to attend a lavish concert like this; and neither were the monies from my part time jobs meant for such lavish spending.

I was transformed to a young girl all of a sudden as the clock ticked closer to 8pm. Fang Yi and myself overlooked the timing as we buzzed about him during our dinner. In the end we were running in helter-skelter towards the MRT. We travelled via the Circle Line – again another virgin experience, towards Stadium station. Whole loads of passengers were buzzing about his concert on the train. This superstar. This guy whom I’ve adored since he released his first album in 2000, Jay Chou.

I thought I was way pass the idolizing era. I mean isn’t that the favourite pastime of teenagers and maybe youths? But hello? I am like freaking mid twenties and I felt so out of place and slightly embarrassed that I actually IDOLIZE or fantasize about this idol of mine. But heck there were plenty of people my age on the train! Needless to say people on FB (my age!) were all going gaga about the concert and having the opportunity to see him up close and personal. I ain’t that old after all!

It was my first time popping by the indoor stadium. Mountain tortoise I know. But hey that’s how it got me excited right? We paid a hefty S$171 each for our tickets. We couldn’t get them at all until announcements on his 3rd show that got us all buzzed up again 3 months before. Hee hee.

Our tickets

Photobucket

We bought our light sticks. Damn profitable can! $5 per stick?!

Photobucket

Our seats... and posing with the ‘fans’.

Photobucket

Thunderous pump-pumps

Photobucket

Photobucket

Waiting impatiently. Haha

Photobucket

When the lights went off, fans started to scream. And that’s when everyone went high. Many videos captured, but I am too lazy to wait for them to load in youtube. It’s like 80+ MB per video. Maybe one picture. Ya, he's that tiny from where I was. Sigh.

Photobucket

During slow songs, I realised I was sitting at the edge of my chair and staring at him, and my mind was somewhere in lala land. I didn’t want to go back home. For only in my lala land, my own creation exists. The day I felt like a teenager again! It was quite emotional towards the end; when he was sharing with us his 10 years of music life. Wow. Hearts him. Aww.

The next one I wanna catch is A-Mei!!!

White Screen of Death

Horrors! A near death experience – my iPhone. I was momentarily crippled when the phone was locked at the ‘white screen of death’.

What the hell was that? I had no idea too. Apparently my phone was still functioning at the background. Phone rang when a call was made to my cell, and messages tones were heard when the Boy was replying me on Whatsapp.

Sob. The last thing I want on a day I am going to be out watching Jay Chou! Thank god for Google! And Youtube! And my office’s PC! Imagine i am on the go. *faint*
After some research, my problem was solved. Hee.

Thanks to the dude for his help. Some others were fakes! They recommended holding the sleep button for 10 seconds but apparently NOTHING happened, still that white glowing screen.

So a hard reset (sleep button and home button held on for 10 seconds) was done on my phone and viola, it finally reboot with the Apple logo. Reboot was unusually long though! Like 1 minute? But well, am glad it’s ok!

So exciting! 25 years of my life, my first concert tonight! I sound like a mountain tortoise. If only I’m watching A-Mei, I doubt I can sleep the night before!

Welcome to HK ah... (Part 5)

Day 6

Woke up groggy and all, for we didn’t have much time to spend sleeping the last day away. Woke up to have this noodle that we saw many patrons coming and out of. It was situated right outside our hotel, and we decided to have a last try on HK’s local delicacy.

His curry beef balls noodle

Photobucket

My clear soup noodle with radish and sotong balls

Photobucket

It wasn’t too bad. Anyway, we rushed off to Argyle Centre to change the size of that only pair of black shorts I purchased.

Photobucket

We were literally brisk walking for we were running out of time. Very fast. I didn’t know the Boy had time to shot this.

Photobucket

Pale me on the escalator.

Photobucket

And to my astonishment, shops weren’t opened yet. They opened at 1pm. Annoyed; we walked back to our hotel to pack our luggage.

At 12.45pm we ran to Argyle Centre once more. We passed by G2000 - finally! Argh, all hidden in Sai Yueng Choi Street South – a street we were trying to avoid for all the acid sabotages were found along this stretch of road. Wasted!

Photobucket

Finally we found the shop in Argyle. The shop lady didn’t want to exchange with me, saying they had a policy that they couldn’t exchange stuff before 4pm. What the fuck?! This bitch had a ‘please slap me’ look. She ranted in Cantonese, and we were all lost in translation.

Another shop owner directly opposite helped us to translate in Mandarin, and she said the boss found it a taboo to exchange sizes before any first sale made. I was turned down despite offering to buy another pair of shorts in her shop! Argh.

How pissed I was; told them we were flying back to SG at 4pm and our shuttle service was leaving at 2pm. She was totally nonchalant and rolled her eyes half the time.

The Boy calmed me down by telling me to take this as a form of motivation to slim down just to fit into the shorts. I resigned to fate. Yes I did shed some kilos. Yes, I could finally button and zip the shorts, but no, I couldn’t wear them out as I looked like some walking glutinous rice dumpling. Sigh. In the end I had to give it away.

Oh did I add that we nearly missed our flight too? We were complacent and underestimated the distance and time needed to travel from one point to another.

This brochure indicated we need at least 20 minutes to travel! We left Starbucks at the eleventh hour!

Photobucket

We ran like two mad dogs. Argh our plane!

Photobucket

Cabin crew were signalling to us in, all looked super anxious. Finally we got on to our seats looking so worn out.

Photobucket

But all in all, this trip was generally fun. Finally did the necessary sight seeing in HK as I didn’t get to do so during my ex-company trip years ago.

I want to fly again!

I want to go some beachy places like Bali or Phuket or even better… Maldives!!!!!

Welcome to HK ah... (Part 4)

Day 5

The fourth night of drinking – our faces swelled up to twice of its original sizes (okay I’m exaggerating).

Photobucket

We were dressed for winter wear this time as we planned to hit the amusement park after our breaky.

Breakfast was fish stomach porridge 鱼腩粥 opposite our Hotel.

Photobucket

It was raved to be good from the forums. Boy, I don’t mind having this for lunch everyday for a month. Definitely will slim down! It’s healthy, yummy and nourishing can!

Photobucket

Their magic sauce with fresh spring onions and ginger.

Photobucket

The Boy’s sliced beef porridge. He wasn’t very adventurous about eating 鱼腩粥. He said it sounded gross – eating fish stomach. Seriously till date I don’t know where exactly is 鱼腩 from a fish.

Photobucket

We were pretty alike. Chubby cheeks

Photobucket

Photobucket

No – we weren’t getting fed up for waiting too long. In fact the good thing about eating in a busy eatery in HK is – you don’t have to wait very long! Their service is fast and efficient!

This is the address of the place for those who are interested in going.

Photobucket

We took MTR down 金鐘 Admiralty station. Boarded City Bus

Photobucket

Bus 629 to Ocean Park

Photobucket

We got our entrance tickets too.

Photobucket

Had to cross over the sea

Photobucket

Us at the main gate

Photobucket

The first pond that greeted us. Pigsy’s other good friends were here.

Photobucket

Seriously, there wasn’t a lot of stuff to see at Ocean Park. Since the Pigsy was so fascinated with bird bird all the time, when we entered the aviary, I wasn’t surprised he took more than 20 shots of the birds with my camera.

So I’m not going to post here and bore you people out.

There were many long escalators in Ocean Park. One of the steep ones we rode on.

Photobucket

My favourite ride. Spin me round and round.

Photobucket

He was dizzy and nauseous after the ride. I wanted to go on a second round! But he said he nearly died-ed.

Tsk tsk. Lousy lah you.

Photobucket

Sigh, the ride kinda gave me quite a lot of shit. We had to FORGO all the rest of these rides here.

Photobucket

And here!

Photobucket

He said he wasn’t here to puke and torture himself. Zzz.

Us on top of the mountain… He didn’t look sick what! Excuses…

Photobucket

Greeted by sea lions.

Photobucket

Had a tiny lunch since our breakfast was mainly partial solids

Photobucket

And it was underwater world time.

Photobucket

This piece of black slug look alike shit was actually SEA CUCUMBER. One of my favourite errr… sea animal.

There were many sea animals and loch-ness monster in the huge pond, in aquariums and glass displays. We took many photos but I’m not going to bore you here.

Photobucket

Mega huge stingray to take note of. Imagine how many plates of BBQ Stingray one can make out of this ONE animal.

Photobucket

Emo nemo

Photobucket

After some 30 minutes stay and admiring of the exhibits, we were off to the cable car!

Photobucket

Long long queue. It was so long I think I spent another 30 minutes here. We couldn’t U-Turn. It was like a ‘no-choice’ route.

Photobucket

High up in the skies we were…

Photobucket

How amazing…

Photobucket

And tadah, we were at the other part of the theme park.

Photobucket

The Asian theme speaks of itself; you see pandas – red or the traditional black and white.

Photobucket

Photobucket

They both eat bamboo shoots I think.

There were goldfish too. Very Chinese. Felt like poking this one.

Photobucket

What will happen to the eyes?

Our memento.

Photobucket

And lastly, exited the park

Photobucket

Was it fun?

Photobucket

Photo said it all! Could have been better if we ride THAT ride the last.

Dinner was simple. Or rather SAD. Don’t go to this place.

Photobucket

Should be around one of the markets.

Never mind they served detergent teas;

Photobucket

But their food didn’t justify to the horrible tea. My face said it all. Dad fed me kueh tutu for a good cause.

Photobucket

His curry baked rice. Eww. He didn’t want to pose with his horrible dinner.

Photobucket

It was horrible till we couldn’t remember why it was so bad. Or rather, how bad.

We decided to have one of HK specialties – milk custard.

Photobucket

We chose chocolate to make up for our lousy dinner!

Photobucket

Yummy!

Some random shopping there after, and FINAL night of that gross vodka. I swore the vodka filled up more than HALF the jug of whatever I was mixing. Well, first and last buy.
